Last Saturday, the Emmett Rotary Club, Gem County Chamber of Commerce, City of Emmett Public Works, Emmett Fire Department, Patriot Center, Kiwanis, Emmett Valley Realtors Association, and individual donors combined to decorate the city for the holidays.

One of the most important parts of this effort began at the Cherry Festival last summer.  The Emmett Rotary Club collected donations from people parking in the park. Over $1700.00 was collected from generous donors, and this money along with other donations was used to purchase a new lighted banner for the south end of Washington Ave.  as well as additional banners for both Main street and Washington Ave.  The old banners have now been retired.

The work crews all met at Moxie Java for coffee before heading out to work.  Rotary Members, the Fire Department, and volunteers from the Patriot Center all had a part in the decoration.  In about three hours, the city was transformed into a Holiday Village.

The most wonderful aspect of this whole project was the cooperation between many groups.  By working together, we accomplished more than any of us working by ourselves could have done.
