The Emmett Rotary Club has presented its 2012 Community Service Award to the Emmett Valley Friendship Coalition.  In his remarks, John Biggs, Rotary Club President, noted the accomplishments of the Coalition since it was formed four years ago. Not only does the Coalition coordinate the Tuesday evening community dinners at the Methodist Church and the Emmett Food Pantry and garden, but they have created partnerships with the Marine Corps Toys for Tots, Franz Bakery in Nampa,  Albertsons,  Idaho Fish and Game and countless families throughout Gem County. During 2011, the Coalition, through its various programs, distributed more than 200,000 pounds of food to Gem County families. In addition, the Coalition organized the distribution of more than 500 food boxes for Thanksgiving and Christmas. The Rotary award included a contribution of $200 which will be matched by a challenge grant from Idaho Power.Image
