Five Attend District Conference

Last Saturday's Mid-Winter District Conference in Meridian was attended by Terry, TJ, Vicky, Judy and John. It was day packed full of information about Rotary's place in the world, membership development and project ideas. On the spur of the moment, under intense pressure from incoming District Governor Terry Gilbert, we think we've hit upon our "elevator speech"! It was fun to hear other clubs around the valley tell about the projects that they do - a wide variety of creative ideas! We were introduced to the District's newest club - "Boise East". They are an evening club that meets in a pub! We heard former D.G. Dick Fields talk about the Foundation's "Million Dollar" challenge through planned giving; Gene Hoge talked about Polio Plus and our challenge of $20 per member; we learned about Rotary's response to the Haiti disaster through the Shelterbox initiative;  Terry gave an inspiring speech about what Rotary means to him; John gave a brief presentation about finding Rotary Foundation Alumni as prospective members; we learned about the many opportunities for service at the District level. Finally, we were pleased to learn that our own Terry Jones will take the position of Assistant District Governor as of July 1st.
