Oh, my goodness, those March winds are blowing like crazy and bringing into the valley all kinds of interesting and unusual things, including flocks of pink flamingos! Auction committee Rotarians will be flocking the table sponsors’ businesses around town for the 52nd annual Flip Flops & Flamingos Celebrating: “Hawaiian Style” Emmett Rotary Youth Benefit Dinner and Auction being held on Saturday, April 19, 2025, at the Gem County Fairgrounds.
This large community event raises funds to benefit the youth of Gem County. To aid their fundraising efforts, the local youth groups will be out and about selling raffle tickets, for $1.00 each for some wonderful prizes: a $600 Gas Card from Wild Willy's Sinclair, a Grill from D&B Supply, or a half of a cut and wrapped pig. This is a great fundraiser for the groups, as they will earn half the amount for every ticket they sell! The drawing will be held at the Rotary Luncheon on April 24. Contact your youth group leader if you have questions about the raffle tickets.
If you are a new business in town or an individual and would like to be involved in this event you can participate in several ways: donate an item for the live or silent auction, attend the auction, bid, and buy into the card draw and wine pull games, and purchase raffle tickets. At last year’s auction, we introduced a fun way to bid on silent auction items and view the live auction items with your phone, which had very successful results! For the auction to run smoothly and for you to receive the recognition you deserve for your generous donation, we must have your auction item(s) with your name attached, by April 1. Auction items and donations can be taken to Tina Hefley at the Gem County Chamber of Commerce 1022 S. Washington Ave., Emmett, ID. For any questions about the Benefit Auction, contact Josh Wester at (208) 371-3449.
