As our first International Project of the Rotary year, we have committed to contribute $500 to the Sanitation Project in Edo State, Benin City, Nigeria. We have joined many other Rotary clubs throughout our District and others to finance a project which will further protect the 28 water wells which have been completed as phase 1 of the effort. Ultimately, 52,000 people in 28 villages will be provided with clean water and sanitation. This project has been spearheaded by Rusty Broughton of Idaho Falls, a former District Governor of our District , and Dr. Princewill Oyakhilome of the Benin City Rotary club. Funds provided by local clubs are matched at both the District and Rotary Foundation levels.....a perfect example of leverage!
